The 2016 Hawaiian Cup grappling tournament is slated for October 22nd. Being East Hawaii’s largest and best jiu jitsu competition, the Hawaiian Cup has drawn Hawaii Island’s best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) programs and practitioners.
The BJJ competition portion of the event will be held as both a Gi and No Gi event.
This year’s tournament will also offer a Wrestling Take Down division. Youth and teens from Penn Training and Fitness Center’s Prodigy Wrestling program will be amongst the other wrestling clubs, adults and individuals that will be competing at this event. This grappling event will provide a competition opportunity for youth, teens and adults who are willing to test their competitive sprit, by competing for the recognition as a jiujitsu or grappling champion or even as a take down artist right here in Hilo town.
The Hawaiian Cup does not require the competitor to be a part of an affiliation or team to compete. The Hawaiian Cup is open to all styles such as Judo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Sambo, Highschool wrestling, Folk-style wrestling, Free-style wrestling, Greco-Roman Wrestling, Aikido, etc. We do not have any restrictions on any form of grappling you practice.
Penn Training and Fitness Center is a proud partner with supporting the Hawaiian Cup 2016 as a portion of the proceeds will benefit those youths and teens participating in the programs offered by Penn Hawai’i Youth Foundation.
